चित्रं देवानामुदगादनीकं चक्षुर्मित्रस्य वरुणस्याग्नेः । आप्रा द्यावापृथिवी अन्तरिक्षं सूर्य आत्मा जगतस्तस्थुषश्च ॥

Meaning The wonderful eye of the gods has risen — the eye of Mitra, Varuna, and Agni; it has filled the heaven, earth, and sky; the Sun is the soul of all that moves and all that stands.

Meaning By whose will does the mind go to its target? By whose will does the first breath move? By whose will do people utter speech? What god directs the eye and the ear?

एको देवः सर्वभूतेषु गूढः सर्वव्यापी सर्वभूतान्तरात्मा । कर्माध्यक्षः सर्वभूताधिवासः साक्षी चेता केवलो निर्गुणश्च ॥

Eko Devah Sarva Bhuteshu Gudha Sarvavyapi Sarva Bhutantaratma, Karma Adhyaksha Sarva Bhutadhivasah Sakshi Cheta Kevalo Nirgunashcha

Meaning One God is hidden in all beings, all-pervading, the inner Soul of all; the overseer of all actions, the abode of all beings, the witness, the pure consciousness, the One, without qualities.

आत्मैवेदमग्र आसीत् पुरुषविधः ॥

Atmaivedam Agra Asit Purushavidhah

Meaning In the beginning this (universe) was the Self alone, in the form of a Person — describing how the individual Self (Atman) and the universal Self are ultimately one, the foundation of Vedantic philosophy.

सहस्रशीर्षा पुरुषः सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात् । स भूमिं विश्वतो वृत्वात्यतिष्ठद्दशाङ्गुलम् ॥

Sahasrashirsha Purushah Sahasrakshah Sahasrapat, Sa Bhumim Vishvato Vritvat Yatishtad Dashangulam

Meaning The Cosmic Person has a thousand heads, a thousand eyes, a thousand feet; encompassing the earth from all sides, He still extends ten fingers beyond.

पुरुष एवेदं सर्वं यद्भूतं यच्च भव्यम् । उतामृतत्वस्येशानो यदन्नेनातिरोहति ॥

Purusha Evedam Sarvam Yadbhutam Yadcha Bhavyam, Utamritatvasyeshano Yadannenatirohati

Meaning The Cosmic Being is all this — whatever has been and whatever will be; He is the Lord of immortality, and He grows beyond through food (creation).

नासदासीन्नो सदासीत्तदानीं नासीद्रजो नो व्योमापरो यत् । किमावरीवः कुह कस्य शर्मन्नम्भः किमासीद्गहनं गभीरम् ॥

Nasad Asin No Sad Asit Tadanim Nasid Rajo No Vyoma Paro Yat, Kimavarivah Kuha Kasya Sharman Nambha Kimasid Gahanam Gabhiram

Meaning There was neither non-existence nor existence then; there was neither the realm of space nor the sky which is beyond; what stirred? Where? In whose protection? Was there water, bottomlessly deep?

अग्निमीळे पुरोहितं यज्ञस्य देवमृत्विजम् । होतारं रत्नधातमम् ॥

Agnim Ile Purohitam Yajnasya Devam Ritvijam, Hotaram Ratnadhatamam. The very first verse of the entire Rig Veda (1.1.1)

सर्वं खल्विदं ब्रह्म ॥

Meaning All this is indeed Brahman — the most all-encompassing positive affirmation in Vedanta, declaring that the entire universe, without exception, is the manifestation of Brahman, the ultimate reality.
