उदु त्यं जातवेदसं देवं वहन्ति केतवः । दृशे विश्वाय सूर्यम् ॥

Udu Tyam Jatavedasam Devam Vahanti Ketavah, Drishe Vishwaya Suryam

Meaning The rays carry aloft that divine Jatavedas (the all-knowing Sun) to be seen by the entire world — the dawn prayer to the rising sun.

ॐ भास्कराय विद्महे महाद्युतिकराय धीमहि । तन्नो आदित्यः प्रचोदयात् ॥

Om Bhaskaraya Vidmahe Mahadyutikaraya Dhimahi, Tanno Adityah Prachodayat

Meaning We know the radiant one; we meditate on the one of great splendor; may the Sun God inspire our intellect.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः । तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि । धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah, Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

Meaning We meditate on the glorious light of the divine Creator (Savitr); may He illuminate and awaken our intellect.

आदित्यहृदयं पुण्यं सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम् । जयावहं जपं नित्यमक्षयं परमं शिवम् ॥

Adityahridayam Punyam Sarvashatru Vinashanam, Jayavaham Japam Nityam Akshayam Paramam Shivam

Meaning This Aditya Hridayam is sacred, destroys all enemies, brings victory when recited daily, and is imperishable and supremely auspicious.

नमस्सवित्रे जगदेकचक्षुषे जगत्प्रसूतिस्थितिनाशहेतवे । त्रयीमयाय त्रिगुणात्मधारिणे विरिञ्चिनारायणशङ्करात्मने ॥

Namassavitre Jagadekachakshushe Jagatprasutisthitinashahetave, Trayimayaya Trigunatmadharine Virinchinarayanashankaratmane

Meaning Salutations to Savitr, the single eye of the universe, cause of creation, sustenance, and dissolution, embodiment of the three Vedas, the self of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.

आदित्यस्य नमस्कारान् ये कुर्वन्ति दिने दिने । जन्मान्तरसहस्रेषु दारिद्र्यं नोपजायते ॥

Adityasya Namaskaran Ye Kurvanti Dine Dine, Janmantara Sahasreshu Daridryam Nopajayate

Meaning Those who offer salutations to the Sun every day will never experience poverty even across a thousand future births.

एष देवासुरगणान् लोकान् पाति गभस्तिभिः । एष ब्रह्मा च विष्णुश्च शिवः स्कन्दः प्रजापतिः ॥

Esha Devasuraganan Lokan Pati Gabhastibhih, Esha Brahma Cha Vishnushcha Shivah Skandah Prajapatih

Meaning He protects the gods, demons, and all worlds with his rays; He is Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Skanda, and Prajapati.

रश्मिमन्तं समुद्यन्तं देवासुरनमस्कृतम् । पूजयस्व विवस्वन्तं भास्करं भुवनेश्वरम् ॥

Rashmimantam Samudyantam Devasuranamaskritam, Pujayasva Vivasvantam Bhaskaram Bhuvaneshwaram

Meaning Worship the radiant rising Sun, saluted by gods and demons alike — Vivasvan, Bhaskara, Lord of the universe.

ततो युद्धपरिश्रान्तं समरे चिन्तया स्थितम् । रावणं चाग्रतो दृष्ट्वा युद्धाय समुपस्थितम् ॥

Tato Yuddha Parishrantam Samare Chintaya Sthitam, Ravanam Chagrato Drishtwa Yudhaya Samupasthitam

Meaning Then, exhausted from battle and anxious, Rama stood in the field before Ravana, who had come to fight — the scene that prompted sage Agastya to teach the solar prayer, recited each morning.
