Earlier in the evening, Gomez took the stage to show her support for Swift’s triumph for Best Pop.
It’s wonderful that Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are able to enjoy such a close connection. The lifelong best friends spent the evening of Tuesday’s MTV Video Music Awards cheering one other on in their respective categories.

When Gomez and Rema won the Best Afrobeats award for their song “Calm Down,” Swift was spotted expressing her happiness for her friend. Swift entertained the audience by dancing and gesticulating wildly when Gomez was accepting her trophy on stage.

Swift was announced as the recipient of the award for Best Pop earlier on in the evening. Gomez was seen standing the whole time that Swift was giving her first acceptance speech of the evening. This was captured on video.

After that, the best friends posed for photographs together. Gomez wowed in the photos wearing a ravishing red gown, while Swift looked like she stepped right out of the Reputation period in a black dress with a slit that went all the way up to her thighs.

Gomez was seen standing close to Swift, and she had her arms around the “Karma” singer at one point in the video.

In another picture, the two ladies can be seen eagerly hugging one another, most likely after it was revealed that Swift had won one of the awards.

These powerhouses of the pop music industry have been supporting one another for years. At Taylor Swift’s performance one month ago, Gomez was able to spend some quality time with her younger sister, Gracie. Later on during the same month, Swift shared her support for Gomez’s newest single, titled “Single Soon.”

Swift has already brought home the prize for Song of the Year, one of the eight accolades for which she is still being considered. At the event that will take place on Tuesday, she is up for a number of awards, including Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. However, Gomez and Rema are still eligible for consideration for the prize for Best Collaboration, despite Swift’s victory in the Song of the Year category.

The MTV Video Music Awards 2023 will be broadcast live on MTV from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Time / 5 p.m. Pacific Time.
