Two law enforcement officers in Brisbane, Australia are winning praises for going above and beyond the call of duty by helping an elderly woman in trouble.
They helped repair an elderly woman’s front door, which was damaged in an attempted break-in at her home.
Constable Matt Boswell and Senior Constable Christopher Couch arrived at her South Brisbane home to find that the front door had been ripped off its hinges, leaving her unsafe there.
“It was clear the lady was very shaken from the ordeal,” Constable Boswell said. “However, the first thing she said was ‘Do you want a cup of tea?’ That was very thoughtful.”
They first sat down with her, making conversation to put her at ease. They got to know from her, that she was recently widowed and lived alone there.
“We wanted to make her feel safe in her own home once again,” Constable Boswell said.
So, they went to work on repairing her door. “I went to work bending the hinges back and drilling new screw holes to re-hang the door on the door jamb,” Constable Boswell said. “It was not a perfect by any means, but the door was locked and secured.”
Before they left, they even left behind a note for her handyman to assist making her house more secure.
The Queensland Police Services said, “These small acts of care can make a big difference to people in our community, and the QPS is proud to have officers like Constable Boswell and Senior Constable Couch.”
Acts like these by our brave police forces, restore our faith in them and make us admire them.
