At the top of the Empire State Building is where ET found Matthew McConaughey, and it was there that Camila also surprised him with some wonderful news.

They claim that there is a more powerful and wiser woman standing behind every successful guy. Both Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves-McConaughey exemplified the truth of this time-honored proverb the day that he left his wife, Camila Alves-McConaughey, behind for three weeks to go to a sleepy hamlet in Texas and write his book, Greenlights.

Only ET was there when Camila surprised her husband with the happy news that she had won an Academy Award, and she recalled that experience when receiving the honor of lighting up the Empire State Building green to mark the author being close to 100 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list. The moment was captured by the Oscar winner.

In typical Matthew McConaughey form, the 53-year-old actor celebrated the accomplishment by giving his wife a bear hug and letting out a hearty yell. McConaughey described the closing moments before he bid farewell to Camila and the children when he was at the platform praising his staff for helping to propel his 2020 novel to amazing heights. The book is a memoir about the actor’s life.

According to McConaughey’s version of events, he was just ready to leave when he finished loading the last of his belongings into the back of his pickup truck. These included steaks, water, tequila, and his journals, which had around one million words, give or take.

“I remember the last words she said — I had just loaded the back of my truck to go off to Marshall, Texas with all of my journals, probably a million words,” McConaughey remembered. “I had just loaded the back of my truck to go off to Marshall, Texas with all of my journals.” “I was kind of intimidated, but I thought that I needed to go through the structure,” she said.

“I loaded up the back of my truck with a bunch of steaks, water, and tequila and headed out for three weeks to go to a place with no electricity, nothing but my journals,” he added. “I didn’t bring anything else with me other than my writings.” “[Camila] was able to detect that I was anxious. And as I was walking out the door she said, “Hey, babe, stop.” “She says, ‘One rule: there are no rules.'”

McConaughey claims that those statements “opened up my floodgates to go out and go write.” He attributes his newly found confidence to the fact that his wife is so encouraging.

The unbelievable stories told on Greenlights were largely responsible for the show’s meteoric rise to the top of the ratings and critical acclaim it received. For example, McConaughey has written about how his father, James Donald, once shared with him his plans for how he would want to pass away. James Donald passed away in the year 1992.

The actor claimed in his memoir that his father had always taught him and his brothers certain things. “‘Boys, when I go, I’m going to be making love to your mother,'” the father said to his children. And that is exactly what happened. When he reached his peak performance, he had a heart attack.

In an interview with ET’s Rachel Smith, McConaughey stated the most satisfying aspect of his book being able to have an enduring influence.

McConaughey, who has been married to Camila Alves for 15 years and has three children along with her — a son, Levi, who is 15 years old, a daughter, Vida, who is 13 years old, and a son, Livingston, who is 10 years old — now has a new book out called Just Because. It is a picture book in which the actor addresses inconsistencies.

“Because I hear my children feeling pressured to be absolute,” he continues. “I don’t want them to internalize that.” “I hear other youngsters who feel as if they have to be really definitive. We must feel like we are connected to the one thing that is most important to us. The idea that life and the world are incompatible is not consistent with reality. We are capable of holding contradictory beliefs. Perhaps your reality is different from mine. Now that I’ve heard both arguments, I can make up my own opinion.”
