I did not know the world could tilt
upon a single moment's hinge,
until I turned and there you stood
and something broke along the fringe

of everything I thought was certain,
every wall I'd set in stone,
fell like autumn's final petal
when your eyes met mine alone.

That breathless second stretched to hours,
