He did not look at his parents or speak until he began painting canvases at the age of 3

Art not only serves to delight the most sensitive souls, but with scientific tests it has proven to be a good therapy to overcome some difficulties. A living testimony to this is little Matthew Rosa, only 3 years old․

Every morning, Matthew gets up and with canvas, brushes, and paint in hand, he asks his parents, María Eduarda and Milton Rosa, to open the door to what he calls “his corner of art.” This request is almost miraculous for his parents because before this the little one could not communicate. When he began to interact with the painting, everything changed and his parents want to talk about this.

“Art has transformed our lives. Before Matthew did not interact, he did not look into the eyes, he did not accept being touched, nor did he speak. Now, after painting, he can talk, interact with the other children and obey the commands necessary for his development”, said his mother, María Eduarda.Matthew started painting from the age of 2 years and 9 months.

But I realized that he did not like to paint on paper, so we decided to buy the canvas and he began to paint at home”, explained Maria Eduarda. The little boy hasn’t become a great brush artist and every day he starts with new and more ambitious projects.

Each of his works is made from his own inspiration, so it has become a medium to express how he sees the world. In addition to how beautiful his works are, it is enough to see his smile to understand the miracle that art has done in his life. “Today I can say that art is essential in Matthew’s life and also in our lives. Before painting these canvases, he was afraid of being around people. Now, even with his fears, he can do that and I am sure that art was fundamental in this evolution”, concluded Eduarda.
