God opens doors when we Pray!

Thoughts for Today

Moses sent Joshua to fight against the Amalekites. Then he, along with Aaron and Hur, went to stand on top of a hill overlooking the battlefield. As long as Moses prayed with his hands held up, the Israelites would gain ground and win. However, whenever he lowered his hands, they began to lose.

Have you ever stood with your hands lifted up for any extended time? It is tiring. Your arms become heavy and your hands begin to feel tingly. Imagine Moses standing with his hands held high and then lowering them as he struggled under their weight. He couldn't do it. He needed help, so Aaron and Hur placed a stone for Moses to sit on. Then they held up his hands—holding them steady until the sun set and God granted the nation of Israel victory.

How many times have you tried to fight a battle by yourself? You think you are strong. You pray and seek God, but the battle becomes fierce and you grow weary. Before you lose hope and give up, remember you are not alone. God is with you.

Galatians 6:2 commands: "Carry each other's burdens." James tells us to pray for each other (see James 5:16). We need to support others in prayer and with words of encouragement. Sometimes, just being near a friend speaks volumes of concern and care. Also, there is power in agreement. Jesus said, "I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven" (Matthew 18:19).

There can be no victory without prayer. Whatever you are dealing with in your life, remember you don't have to fight on your own. Seek the Lord and ask others to pray with you.

Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, please help me to identify the people you have put into my life to pray for and with. Forgive me for the times when I have tried to live this life of faith outside of community. Thank you for faithful brothers and sisters in Christ. May I also be one.
