Deputy Saves Child In Traffic After Distraught Mother Pleaded For Help

Distressing footage captured the moment when a choking child was saved by the intervention of a sheriff’s deputy at a traffic in Dallas.

According to the Department of Health’s New York State website, “at least one child dies from choking on food every five days in the U.S., and more than 12,000 children are taken to a hospital emergency room each year for food-choking injuries.”

The video showed the mother running while holding her 4-year-old daughter in her arms to a deputy’s car behind her at a busy intersection.

Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy Keith Rose said, “Just basically handed me her baby that was not responsive at all,” He added, “I grabbed the baby and turned her over and pat her on the back, some fluid came out of her mouth, placed her on the driver’s seat and just started CPR.”

After a few anxious moments, Deputy Rose was grateful to see the child moving and breathing on her own. “Of course, my concern was that mom didn’t squeeze her too tight that she would be unconscious again,” he said.

Deputy Keith Rose has 35 years of experience but said he never handled an incident like this before but the training he received in CPR came in handy.

“I work in the warrant section and we train quite a bit and quite often we throw in an officer down rescue type training and it helps out with medical and CPR and different types of situations,” he said. “All the years that I’ve been out here, this is right at the top. Just glad I was at the right place at the right time.”

The little girl has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation after she was revived by the officer. Let’s cover the girl in prayer and ask the Lord for protection for her and for other children who are vulnerable to choking in our country.
