What is Psalm 54 about?
Psalm 54 is a brief prayer for rescue from 'strangers' and 'oppressors' who have risen against the psalmist (v.3), moving quickly from request to confidence that God is his helper (v.4) and a vow to offer sacrifice in thanks (v.6).
What does the psalm say about God as helper?
Verse 4 says 'Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul,' a confidence similar to Hebrews 13:6's 'The Lord is my helper.'
How does the psalm end?
It ends with thanksgiving already looking back on deliverance: 'he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies' (v.7).

The psalmist declares 'God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul,' a confidence matched in Hebrews 13:6. The chapter closes with a vow of freewill sacrifice before the longer lament of Psalms 55.
