What is Psalm 129 about?
It recounts affliction Israel has suffered "from my youth" (vv.1-2), using the image of plowers making "long their furrows" upon the psalmist's back (v.3) to describe suffering, while affirming enemies have "not prevailed."
What curse is pronounced on those who hate Zion?
Verses 5-6 wish that those who hate Zion be "confounded and turned back" and become "as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up": brief, rootless, and unproductive.
What does verse 4 say about the LORD?
V.4 says, "The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked," crediting God with breaking the bonds used against his people.

The psalmist prays that those who hate Zion wither quickly "as the grass upon the housetops," unable to be gathered into a harvest, a striking contrast to the earlier joy of Psalms 124:1. Browse more entries on the Psalms overview or continue to Psalms 130.
