Frequently Asked Questions

What three sacred occasions does Numbers 29 lay out offerings for?
It covers the Feast of Trumpets on the first day of the seventh month, the Day of Atonement on the tenth day, and the seven-day Feast of Tabernacles beginning on the fifteenth day, each with its own required sacrifices (29:1, 7, 12).
What is distinctive about the offerings during the Feast of Tabernacles?
The number of bullocks offered decreases each day of the feast, starting at thirteen on the first day and dropping by one daily down to seven on the seventh day, before a final solemn assembly on the eighth day (29:13-36).
What was required of the people on the Day of Atonement according to this chapter?
They were to hold a holy convocation, "afflict their souls," and do no work, while offering a bullock, a ram, seven lambs, and a kid of the goats for a sin offering (29:7-11); compare Leviticus 23:24-25.
