5 Ways to Guard Your Home by Using Spiritual Warfare

The family unit has been under attack for decades. The family is the most important foundation for any nation, and the church family is not exempt. While we are fighting culture, people, politics, and immorality, the devil is gaining ground as we go chasing our tails. There is a war, and it is fierce in the heavenliness and on earth. Our homes and families also need to be protected, and we tend to ignore this area.

We think we are weak, this is a lie. You are not powerless, but powerful! “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.” The war is on and we did win!

Speak Confusion

Speak confusion into the enemy’s assignments. That means you! You can destroy the devil and his strongholds by making a decision to not let evil in. Once you declare that you won’t be passive–you will feel powerful. Speak confusion into his work and who he sends. Ask for discernment with people, places and things. “I speak confusion into the enemy’s assignment against this house, family, and friends. Jesus took your authority away at Calvary and you have no power over us. I rebuke all negative and evil forces in Jesus’ name.” If you don’t feel that the home peaceful, go to every room and plead Jesus over objects and things.

Sin

Don’t allow things that are ungodly rule the home or you. Yes, the devil is crafty. He uses anger, resentment, and strife to get between people, making the environment unhealthy. Taking offence, fighting, pornography, hate or even idols in one’s life can cause chaos personally and within our families.

Study the word, and a Scripture to latch onto. Try 2 Timothy 4:18: “The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” Also create a journal of how God is speaking to you, and record past wins. This will help when doubt comes in.

Rest

Be a family of prayer. Pray together as there is power in two or more. Pray Scriptures over everyone. Pray that David shared that “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Let the forces know you are protected by the Almighty. Don’t be afraid, he is with you. Enlist the family to help you as well!

Protection

Seek the Lord for protection of the house and wherever you tread! Call all angels, and seek the inner power He has given you. It is already there.”Hear Lord, as I put on the full armor of God, I know that when the day of evil comes, I will be able to stand my ground, and after I have done everything, I will stand. I will stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, I will take up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. I take on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Bind

Bind the devil, yes, use this tool! Also there is power in two or more. In Matthew 18:18-19: “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” Put the whole armor of God on and teach the family to do the same thing. This will empower you as a unit.

Plead the blood of Jesus over each person and pray for a covering. You can’t be passive any more about your home and family. Take out the sword of the Spirit and stand your ground.
